A nádudvari fekete kerámia nem csupán egy tárgy, hanem a föld és a tűz ősi párbeszéde. Karda Imre, a Népművészet Mestere, ennek a különleges hagyománynak volt az egyik legavatottabb őrzője. Ez a 24 cm-es falitányér a híres fojtásos égetési eljárással készült: az égetés végén a kemencét légmentesen lezárják, így az oxigénhiányos környezetben a füst és a szén átjárja az agyag pórusait, megadva annak jellegzetes, mélyfekete színét.

Ami igazán különlegessé teszi ezt a darabot, az a felületén látható díszítés. A mintákat – a központi hatlevelű virágot és a peremen futó indákat – még égetés előtt, egy sima folyami kaviccsal dörzsölik bele az edény falába. Ez a polírozási technika hozza létre azt a fémes, grafitos csillogást, amely elegáns kontrasztot alkot a matt fekete alapfelülettel. Bár a tárgy népművészeti gyökerű, letisztult formavilága és monokróm megjelenése miatt a modern, wabi-sabi vagy skandináv stílusú otthonoknak is különleges dísze lehet. Nádudvar black pottery is not just an object; it is an ancient dialogue between earth and fire. Imre Karda, a Master of Folk Art, was one of the most expert guardians of this unique tradition. This 24 cm wall plate was made using the famous reduction (smothered) firing process: at the end of the firing, the kiln is sealed airtight, so that in the oxygen-depleted environment, smoke and carbon permeate the pores of the clay, giving it its characteristic deep black color.

What makes this piece truly special is the decoration visible on its surface. The patterns—the central six-petaled flower and the vines running along the rim—are rubbed into the wall of the vessel with a smooth river pebble before firing. This polishing technique creates the metallic, graphite luster that forms an elegant contrast with the matte black base surface. Although the object has folk art roots, its clean shapes and monochrome appearance make it a special decoration for modern, wabi-sabi, or Scandinavian-style homes. Its flawless condition and the master’s mark on the back elevate it into a true collector’s piece.
